Dr. Hancock is a board certified family doctor with over 21 years of clinical experience. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Rice University in 1992. Remaining in Houston (having grown up just north of there), he then enrolled in Baylor College of Medicine on a U.S. Air Force scholarship, earning his M.D. in 1996. Saying goodbye to the Texas Gulf Coast, he began active duty service near Washington, D.C., continuing with family medicine specialty training at Malcolm Grow Medical Center, Andrews AFB (1996-99). Further postings as a USAF staff physician followed in Montana at Malmstrom AFB (‘99-‘01), and then at RAF Alconbury/Molesworth/Upwood in England (‘01-‘04), taking care of U.S. military personnel, veterans, and their families.
Completing his U.S. Air Force service, he returned stateside with his wife Amy and three children to settle in Morristown, not too far from where Amy grew up in Oak Ridge. After working at another local clinic his first year in Tennessee, in October 2005 Dr. Hancock came on board with HealthStar Physicians, P.C., where he remains to this day.
He enjoys seeing a wide range of patients, from newborns to folks that are “up there” in years—and everything in between. He also spends some time each week at a local clinic serving county and city employees and their families, and similarly at an in-house clinic for a local automotive parts manufacturing plant. Finally, he gives some of his time monthly to Helping Hands, a free clinic for those without insurance.
Dr. Hancock stands ready to do his best in listening to his patients’ stories, helping them to come up with solutions to their medical problems, advocating for their preventive health needs, and getting them to the right specialist when necessary.
